#ProjekUMBI1617: Friday (14/4/2017)

Assalamualaikum and good day/night to all. Ain here to update on our event which ended a few days ago. So here we go...

Friday, 14/4/2017:

The day passed without anything special; I had to shoot a video for a course that I'm taking. However, the other ladies were already busy with the preparation for the event tomorrow. Some of them went out to get the stuffs from the sponsors and for the activities with the Children of PEKEAS as well while some of them went to drop-off bigger/heavier things like rice, packets of sugars and the likes to PEKEAS since we won't be able to fit them in the van.

All of us agreed to meet up at SD7 in the Bioinfo Building around 8 pm. I had to bring a bundle of newspapers, the shirts for our program and some curtains so I asked for Anis and Mai's help. They came together with Kartheeni and her friend. Her friend thankfully brought a car and helped us move the stuff to the SD7. Shamin was already there waiting for us. We brought the things upstairs and waited for Fatin,Foo and Ed to arrive.

While waiting for the rest, we finalized a few things like the tentative for the whole event, decided whether to provide a certificate of appreciation for our volunteers and trying out some of the activities. Foo arrived shortly and then Fatin came together with Adibah or Diba who is one of our volunteers.

She was from UKM and had arrived at UM that very evening. It was a pleasant surprise to know that she was one of my good friend's course-mate and came to join our project due to the viral message spread through the Whatsapp group. Makes me wonder what a small world we live in. 😊

With nothing more to do, I decided we should take some photos so that we can introduce ourselves with our respective bureaus. The process of taking the pictures was...very funny and entertaining 😂 All because of Shamin's creative idea. I'm glad the pictures came out well. It was nearing 10.30 pm. and Ed together with two other volunteers, Syafiq and Luqman, were yet to make an appearance. Kartheeni and her friend decided to make a move first as it was getting late and we've agreed to meet up the next morning before 8.00 am. Around half an hour later, Ed arrived with the volunteers and all the goods they've picked up along the way. There were a lot. We were blessed because we got two kinds of goodies bag from the kind-hearted supplier. Then we proceed with sorting out the goods (thankfully everything was already nicely packed) and briefing Syafiq and Luqman on how things will go about for the next two days.

We ended our meeting at around 12.00 am and we separated into two groups and separated our ways. We decided to go out and grab supper and had a little bonding time among us. At around 1.00 am I arrived at my hostel but didn't go to sleep instantly. I have yet to pack my belongings and other stuffs needed for our stay there. I was so excited, I couldn't go to sleep easily even after packing. I couldn't wait to see the faces of the Children of PEKEAS and get to know them. However, I did fell asleep at around 3.30 am and woke up at around 5.30 am.

So that was the story of the day before the event. The next post will be about our first day at PEKEAS. Some pictures...
